Rosemead Education Center (REC) is a licensed private preschool and kindergarten serving children ages 2 through 6. Located at 2662 Walnut Grove Ave in Rosemead, we have been part of the San Gabriel Valley community since 1984.

What Makes REC Different from Public Preschool Programs

As a private school, REC sets its own standards rather than following a district-wide template. That means:

Small class sizes. We maintain low teacher-to-student ratios so every child receives individual attention. Our teachers know each child by name.

Licensed, experienced teachers. Our teaching staff holds valid California credentials. We hire educators who are qualified, experienced, and genuinely invested in the children they work with.

A consistent, dedicated facility. REC is not a classroom inside someone else’s school building. Our campus is designed specifically for early childhood education, with age-appropriate indoor classrooms and outdoor play areas that are regularly maintained.

Full-day schedule. We operate Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a reliable full-day option for working families.

Nutritious meals included. As a CACFP-enrolled site, we serve breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack daily, following federal nutrition standards. Meals are included at no extra cost for all students.

Free Tuition for Qualifying Families

One of the things that surprises many parents: REC is a private school where qualifying families can enroll at no cost.

Through a tuition assistance program, families who meet income and employment eligibility requirements can receive full tuition coverage. Your child receives exactly the same education, the same classroom, the same teachers, and the same meals as every other student. The only difference is who pays the tuition.

Eligibility is based on:

• California residency
• Your child’s age (2 to 6 years)
• At least one parent being employed, enrolled in school, or actively seeking employment
• Family income within the program’s guidelines (based on nuclear family size)

Income thresholds are updated annually and are more generous than many families expect.

Our Programs

Preschool (Ages 2-5): Age-appropriate curriculum that builds social skills, early literacy, numeracy, creativity, and physical development through structured activities and guided play.

Kindergarten (Ages 5-6): Preparing children for a smooth transition into elementary school, with a focus on reading readiness, math foundations, and the self-management skills they will need in a larger school setting.

REC has operated continuously in Rosemead for more than 40 years. Many of our current parents attended REC as children and have returned to enroll their own kids. That kind of generational trust is not something you can manufacture; it comes from decades of consistent, caring education.
